Without rethinking the two party juggernaut on political discourse we are going to end up with staying home and not participating as the sole alternative - which it is not. Welcome to the double bind of American politics. The appropriate forum, I have said before, is the ‘fourth estate.’ We do more for democracy by supporting independent journalism than by ‘staying home.’ Otherwise, we look just like Hungary.
