What is Israel Up To?
October 7, 2024: what have we learned?
For those who attempt to speak truth to power, there is a rhetoric marker: those who don’t know speak a lot, those who do know don’t speak. One could apply this caveat to asking the question, after one year what have we learned from the events in the Israeli-Hamas-Hezbollah-Iran conflict.
At the beginning of the aftermath of the October 7, 2023 attack, I began a “weekly journal” some of which found their way to these posts, entitled “What’s Wrong With This Picture?” The idea was to report on the reporting of the conflict from the perspective of the hypocrisy of perpetrating a military conflict while subverting the diplomatic resolution. A sidekick mission was to record the hypocrisy of western media, particularly American mainstream media, in claiming objective analysis and thoughtful weighing of options.
I abandoned this effort in July, due to one, sounding repetitious; and two, due to reflecting on my writing becoming part of a problem in reporting on a subject which scarcely has found an audience beyond side-taking and tribal rumblings. Gone were the campus tent communities and the university chieftains who removed the tents. Now we have the “Uncommitted” who in my former home state are abstaining from voting for Candidate Kamala Harris, a dubious political tactic but a surprisingly effective organizing tool in a…
