One month ago, during the Republican rebuttal to the State of the Union address, the junior Senator of Alabama, Katie Britt, fabricated a story of a migrant’s multiple rapes.

This past week, the late Ruby Garcia’s death, was trolled, misrepresented and spun on social media by Presidential candidate Donald Trump.

This past week, Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson blocked a critical House vote to fund the defense of Ukraine, the first time the US Congress has failed its commitment to provide funding. Johnson cited the absence of a border protection policy on the southern border, a total misrepresentation and an example of public disinformation.

Former President Trump demanded Johnson do it.

That truth would be easy to shred were it not for the weight of symbolic gesture. In place of investigation based on evidence, (4) were it not for the absence of moral vision. Some explain away this absence of moral vision as phenomena, the indulgent meanderings of a “cult.” I prefer to call it out for what it is: an attempt to subvert
