Day Three of the Democratic National Convention.
Billed as “Walz Wednesday” due to the scheduled acceptance speech by Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Democratic Party nominee for Vice President, Day Three of the Democratic National Convention spliced together a continuing recitation on ‘FREEDOM’ with an official candidate introduction to the American public.
Who is Tim Walz?
Barely four months ago, Walz was unheard of and from. By his admission, he is not a speechifying type of politician. He’s not a grandstander. Like many Congressional colleagues across America, Walz, a Democrat, has served his Republican district for several terms. He has also served his country as Sergeant Major in the U. S. Army National Guard.
Walz is a Governor, but not from a “must-win state.” Walz hails from Minnesota, historically blue and home to Walter “Fritz” Mondale, 1984 Presidential Candidate and Hubert Humphrey, 1968 Presidential Candidate. Both Mondale and Humphrey ably served their Presidents —Jimmy Carter and Lyndon Johnson, respectively. Minnesota, one can say, has “cred,” when it comes to Democratic candidacy for higher office.
Walz, elected to a second term as Governor, was — until four weeks ago — relatively unknown outside of Minnesota. That turned out to be a plus. Suffering the prospect of another four years of Trump…
