The unitary drivel of the executive

Minute by minute the American media reports another violation of laws, norms, ‘guardrails’ — now a vapid expression — which are exercised purposefully to protect America from tyranny.

“He who saves his country does not violate any Law.” — Donald T****, truth social.com, February 24, 2025.

Two disturbing sentiments hobble a resistance to these violations. One is that democracy is protected by a two-party system — “sure things feel bad right now, but we have an election in ’26 which provides an escape valve from this daily madness”. Another is that our collective voice is too small, too weak, too untested right now, so concluding — this can’t go on very long.

On what assurances do we rest these claims? What measure of confidence that these sentiments provide a path forward? Yet this is the best mainstream media, and our elected officials can offer America right now. As citizens we elected a tyrant so now must live with the consequences and inversely, whatever this is, whatever one chooses to call it, is beyond the human imagination.

Whatever this is, cannot persist.

Don’t despair, there is a precedent which we have overlooked, a compelling legacy cloaked in the phrase “unitary executive theory.”
