Non-sequiturs I have known
“I admit that I am powerless over non-sequiturs, that my life has become unmanageable.”
My “therapy” is to root them out. Here is a definition of “non-sequitur” and a recent sampling.
“Non-sequitur: a conclusion or statement that does not logically follow from the previous argument or statement.” Oxford English Dictionary.
Voter Suppression or tyranny at work
Question: How do you suppress a voter that hasn’t cast a vote?
Answer: You deny the voter ever existed.
“Voter suppression” is a kissin’ cousin of “voter fraud”: one abets the other. Deny the existence of the voter and the “fraud” mysteriously goes away. And where there is no evidence of voter fraud, there is the potential of voter fraud. Thank you, Justice Clarence Thomas for recently “clarifying.”
The Founding Fathers have presaged “voter suppression.” They called it “tyranny.”
Violence (assault) at the Capitol or Insurrection?
“Violence at the Capitol” could be two pigeons fighting over territory. Usually food is involved. “Insurrection” is a planned conspiracy to destroy the institutions tasked to uphold the public welfare. Usually governance is involved.
Don’t let the “perfect” be the enemy of the “good”
If the “perfect” isn’t “the enemy of the good,” what then is ‘the good’ about? This inadmissible nugget surfaced in the Clinton years and was carried forth by Democratic Operative Rahm Emanuel in the Obama administration as a warning to progressives not to “rock the boat.”
Mr. Emanuel went on as Mayor of Chicago to delay a public investigation and report on an illegal police shooting.
Minority protection or obstruction
How divided is the Senate or are some Senators wired not to vote with Democrats on anything? Sorry, Sen. Joe Manchin, we haven’t found in the Constitution where it says the majority has to work with the minority.
In the end ‘if it walks like an obstructionist, if it talks like an obstructionist…’
Hypocrisy or conspiracy
Consider that “hypocrisy” is both a lie and a veiled statement of intent. Else why the fuss? Why the cover-up? Why the shielding of nascent conspiracy? If one cannot tolerate what one feels is exclusively one’s right to abridge, “conspiracy” lurks around the corner.
