No Time for Excellence
A lot of very intelligent, mindful and experienced people will lose their jobs.

If I am correct, Day One of the Trump administration, like subsequent days at the White House, will be days of celebration.
Celebrating what? you ask.
Celebrating what I would call “pretend excellence.”
Let’s not kid ourselves, there is nothing ‘excellent’ about who’s taking over the reins. They look good in a photo op. And that’s about all. The new gang has made an art out of “pretend excellence.” They like to show off, to position, to softball what they don’t understand let alone appreciate. It's a kind of tabloid excellence, with a check-out line attention span.
They don’t speak, they don’t listen, they preen.
Think “The Apprentice” arrives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Okay you ask, how will this work.
I foresee a softening of the outlines post-election. There will be overtures of a “team approach,” management-speak to convince us that America is being run by wildly successful entrepreneurs. There will be many shiny pennies distracting the rest of us from hearing what knowledgeable experts are saying about the economy, about climate change, about the threat of epidemics, about women’s health, the global…
