Election 2020: Paul Revere owned a horse

“The Emperor reads tea leaves. The people drink tea.”- 15th century Chinese proverb.

“The Emperor has no clothes.”- derived from “The Emperor’s New Clothes” by Hans Christian Andersen

The final sprint of Election 2020 deposits another day of collective angst and a personal visit with that old friend, fear of power.

Do we sweat collectively at the latest sword rattling coming from our Tweeter-in-Chief? Thank you Chairman Pelosi for kinda’ sorta’ invoking the 25th. Yes, we know he’s mentally incapable. Too little, too late: Republican sycophants are circling the wagons. Vote suppression operatives are deployed in the field, “watchers” at the polls, “Proud Boys” attempting to recruit on Facebook.

And Paul Revere owned a horse.

Let me rephrase: what if Trump and the RNC staged a ‘chaos’ and no one attended? Cable ratings sank. Advertisers started pulling out of Fox News.

What if.

What if WE showed up and voted.

What if WE counseled our vote by showing up to support the things Trump and Obama- yes, Obama- scuttled over the past half-generation. And WE committed to not stop supporting after the election.

Pointedly, what if we supported our struggling youth instead of incarcerating them.

What if.

Paul Revere was white and privileged, had doctors and merchants as friends, rode a horse and was a talented silversmith.

Man and horse showed up. The ‘rest’ we know.
