What America is witnessing currently is a failure of opposition leadership — too much appeasement, too little resistance.

Don’t put away your Paul Revere Ride tricorn hat. ‘America’ is in danger.

Repeat: America is in danger.

One asks, what is ‘opposition’? What does it look like?

One answers, it’s hard to see right now. An Episcopal Bishop here, a junior Congressperson from California there.

Then quiet.

A gaggle of Congress members gathered in protest in front of a gated National Agency for International Development.

More quiet.

A federal prosecutor resigning in protest of a Deputy Attorney General’s unconstitutional abuse of judicial review.

And more quiet.

How about Congress, one asks. Isn't there opposition to what’s going on? Isn’t Congress in session?

Mainstream media, while ignoring the urgency and possibility of a government shut down, is more caught up with agency closures and Cabinet nominees than funding the government.
