Biden Again
Biden is doing his job, so let’s blame him for everything.
His approval numbers haven’t changed.
Correction: Biden’s approval numbers don’t change, which is noteworthy considering that other bellwether of all things “right” (or “wrong”) about America, the stock market, has been all over the place recently.
What’s going on?
Here are some conjectures.
One: Biden has a real Chief of Staff in Ron Klain — IMO America hasn’t had a real Chief for many years.
Rahm Emanuel, where are you?
Sean Spicer, how is the MAGA crowd counting going?
Two: Biden encourages loyalty to ‘stay the course.’ So, when Biden departs from one’s expectations, primarily of tone, one is startled. A tonic for America’s amnesia; but incurring resentment as well.
America doesn’t like wake-up calls. Why else do we criticize Biden for the things he can’t really control?
Three: Biden (so far) effectively challenges Putin. Last two Presidents didn’t.
Four: Biden (so far) effectively challenges China. Last two Presidents didn’t.
Pelosi didn’t stay home, did she?
Five: The gaff-o-meter is turned off.
Biden, one of America’s ‘more centrist’ Presidents, gets more respect from Progressives than yesteryear’s ‘conservative’ Republicans. (1) He is not so far “off the mark,” despite his age, as the media likes to depict him.
That’s something. And I am a critic. (2)
So why does the media fawn over Trump’s excesses and continue to be distracted by the staging of ‘all things wrong’ about America?
As if the Office of the President can spin the dial on inflation and street crime.
For the answer to that question one can sum up Democratic Party leadership as embracing yesterday’s news with a focus group and a poll.
If there ever were an argument for multi-diversity and messaging in party leadership, the evidence is at Democrats’ doorstep. Democrats prefer to criticize the messenger of good news than challenge the misinformation behind bad.
And that’s bad.
