How Donald Trump became a darling of the news media.

This past week America reached another watershed in media display of Trump campaign influence. The story begins in a studio at 30 Rock when during remarks about Trump’s recent campaign exploits, Chuck Todd exclaimed to host Meet the Press host Kristin Welker disappointment that NBC was hiring Ronna McDaniel (1) former RNC Chair and Trump mouthpiece and inviting her to join the news gaggle at NBC. 300K would be her annual salary, easily passing what hard working daily MSNBC news hosts were being paid.

NBC staff outrage was afoot.

This was followed by public coyness from NBC news management. And this was followed by a contextual barrage from Rachel Maddow, the highest paid news show host on MSNBC, during her weekly show Monday, March 25. Suddenly, it was all PR hands on deck, and NBC news began circulating made-for-cable-airing public announcements:

Our initial decision was made because of our deep committment to presenting our audiences with a widely diverse set of viewpoints and experiences, particularly during these consequential times. We will redouble our efforts to seek voices that represent different parts of the political spectrum.

-NBCUniversal News group Chairman Cesar Conde, March 25 (2)
